Log burner Tips

Firebricks or stove liner bricks are found inside logburners are made from vermiculite.
They protect the body of the stove from heat damage and insulate the appliance to keep it burning at higher temperatures using less fuel.
They can last up to 5 years if the logburner is used correctly.

Cracks are very common
Heating and cooling stresses the vermiculite and people can be quite rough when adding logs into the burner.

Dont panic to replace straight away.
Wait until the brick is crumbly, the surface is flaking off or you can fit a £1 sideways into the crack (over 2mm).

However, using a stove with overly damaged firebricks or none at all can lead to warping of the stove which is not repairable and less fuel efficiency.

You can usually purchase new firebricks from the manufacturer of the stove or we can visit to bespoke cut one or more for you.
