A damaged chimney liner can crack, leak, or collapse over time due to heat, acid corrosion, condensation, and age. Damaged liners can allow smoke, heat, and dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide to enter the home.

“Seasoning” wood means drying it out properly before burning it. Freshly cut (“green”) wood contains a lot of moisture — often 40–60% water. Seasoning reduces that moisture so the wood burns hotter, cleaner, and safer.
